Grog, Mullite 48

This medium-grained, 48-mesh grog is sold by the pound or by the full 50-lb. bag. 48-mesh grog is considered a medium mesh size, which makes it great for adding to wheel-throwing clay bodies -- it is on the finer end of medium, however, as it is a finer mesh than our 35-mesh grog. This is a calcined mullite grog, used throughout the ceramic industry and available in a variety of mesh sizes. This grog can be added to throwing and sculpture clay bodies to increase working strength and reduce shrinkage. Adding grog to your clay also aids in drying thick pieces.
