General Policies

Update: 5/20/2026

Due to multiple close calls and injuries, we are setting policies that not only protect our employees but also allow us to provide the most consistent service to all those we serve across the ceramics community.

Loading Policy:

Animals in the vehicle: As much as we love our furry friends, (and we do!) we are no longer able to assist with the loading of clay or dry materials when an animal is present within the vehicle. We can only assist if the animal(s) are leashed and removed from the vehicle entirely.

Orders up to 500lbs, we are happy to load for the customer if the trunk or truck bed is free of any obstructions or obstacles. This includes but is not limited to other materials, snow, ice, boxes, groceries or anything that could be considered an obstacle when loading 50lb boxes. We can no longer assist in the loading of clay or materials into the floorboards, around other seats or in and around items already in the vehicle.

Orders over 500lbs but less than 1,000lbs, that require handloading, the customer must assist in the loading of the vehicle. We will help load if the trunk or truck bed is free of obstacles or obstructions. Any orders over 1,000lbs must be able to be loaded using our forklift or is ENTIRELY the customers responsibility.

ALL orders that are a full pallet or more of clay and or materials (2,500lbs) must be able to be loaded via forklift or is the customers responsibility to load. To best protect our employees and prevent serious injury, please bring a vehicle or trailer that can be loaded directly by our forklift. Enclosed drop ramp style trailers will either require the complete removal of the ramp to allow forklift loading or become the responsibility of the customer to load by hand. Please help us, help you and arrive fully prepared with the proper help or proper vehicle/trailer to collect your order.

*Can’t find the help or don’t have the right vehicle or trailer? Ask us about our affordable freight shipping rates!

EXCHANGES & RETURNS:

A minimum 20% restocking charge may be assessed when the order was filled correctly following the customer’s instructions and return is requested by the customer. Please take the time when you receive your order to verify that it is correct immediately upon arrival. If you have a question or problem with any shipped order, notify us within 30 days of receipt of your order to make an authorized return/exchange. Returns need to be made with the receipt within 60 days and by the original purchaser. Items for return must be unused and in re-sellable condition. We reserve the right to determine the validity of exchanges and returns. Special order items are non-returnable.  Large equipment such as kilns, kiln shelves, wheels, slab rollers, extruders, pug mills or mixers are non-returnable.

The Clay Business staff is dedicated to fulfilling orders accurately and efficiently, that said, we are human! Mistakes happen. We have a formal return policy in place to protect against misuse and abuse of return/exchange privileges. All that said, if you communicate in a timely and respectful manner, we will do all we can to accommodate a return or exchange. We exist to serve and support the ceramics community from community arts organizations to professional artists, hobbyist and everyone in between in a fair and equitable way. If you have questions or concerns about something you have purchased from the Bray Clay Business, please, do not hesitate to reach out!
